For those of you who want to skip the patch rush tomorrow heres some information from the beta forums about how to configure to get some of the patches now.

Btw when you get on and we know which server people have picked. If you type "/chan cybergings" you will either create a chat channel (/2 default) for Cybergings or join it if it already exists. A good way to keep in contact until enough people are together to form a temp guild

PAtch complete took almost an hour ffs but speed improved massively toward the end so it seems they are slowly getting their shit together. Game servers are all down it seems but heres the list of the EU English servers:

Good afternoon!

Today has been exciting to say the least! By now many closed beta testers have downloaded the new patch, while more and more new players are registering their accounts and validating their Open Beta keys. We are well aware of the numerous problems associated with the registration process. Most of these are due to the relentless pounding we’ve given the servers. As a reference, war-europe had two million (non-unique) hits between 8am this morning and noon. Flash or not, this is enough traffic to give most any website a run. This traffic was expected and a vital part of the Open Beta. Although it may have been a frustrating experience for many of you, we’ve gained lots of valuable data, further helping our preparations for the Live Launch.

We are expecting the Open Beta servers to be online soon(TM) and when they do, tens of thousands of closed beta testers are standing by the door, only to be followed by myriads of new testers who have managed to validate their keys.

Some common issues
-Open Beta key authentication error: Key has expired. This is caused by a communication problem with our databases. We are working on a solution. This error does not mean that your key is invalid.

-Sometimes patching process will abort the download and one is forced to restart. This is caused by patching optimisation by our technicians. When they implement a change your connection may be severed. If this occurs you should restart the patching process; it will continue from the beginning of file you were last downloading.

-There has been mixed messages regarding players who had previously created accounts at war-europe.com but who was never a part of the closed beta and hence not automatically given Open Beta access. I have previously stated that these players must create new accounts. This is not correct; anyone who has an account at war-europe.com but does not currently have Open Beta access is free enter their Open Beta key here: http://www.war-europe.com/#/myproductkey/. We will clarify this in the news shortly.



We are all working very hard and appreciate your patience. Frustration is understandable, but please remember that every single one of you are beta testers. The primary purpose of this day is to test our systems in preparation for live launch. Despite some delays and technical issues, Open Beta is drawing closer and you will soon be bathing in the blood of your enemies!

Oh, and for those of you who haven’t finished patching yet, the English servers are: Karag Dron, Karag Orrud, Nehekhara, Karak-Hirn, Karak-Norn, Alarille, Burlok and Ellyrioon. They are all on the Core ruleset for now. We’ll try to bring you Open-RvR servers during Open Beta but for now we have no ETA on this.

Well holding off on playing more now till the masses arrive. With only closed beta testers online and spread over 8 servers theres not enough for scenarios which was what I was mostly waiting for along with getting online with the gings again. Hopefully this will all be sorted soon.

As for vent Ill try and get it sorted tonight last time i tried both the 32 and 64bit client on vista made me sound like a helicopter on acid.

i had loads of trouble with that, ended up having to use my onbored sound for vent and my soundcard for everthing else.

Think i'm in the same boat KuifJe - registered my open beta key with them, but can't log into the patcher. I'm using the same username and password as the Warhammer EU site.

My account details are same as the website details. But then i didn't have to register a key. I just got auto OB access with closed beta client

ah well...we could always opt for the US open beta, alltho theres probably no keys available anymore...

I've seen no fuck ups on the US side of the BETA, good thing they're sticking with GOA though

Would be funny to see some transcripts of some of the conversations between Mythic and GOA, or GOA management and the people responsible for the registration process.

From memory it was always the same on DAoC, US seemed to go with no problems, whilst the french seemed to constantly spoil Europe's fun.

I have, despite me creating my account however many months ago and logging in using it for several months, GOA are adamant that it's not been validated. Plus with no way of validating or creating a new account I'm screwed.

I'm pretty disappointed by the delays GOA seem to be introducing to the system. Usually I'd be pissed at EA with most games due to their lacklustre approach in general but for once its the total opposite. Mythic have created an amazing game and EA have gone out of their way to market the game properly and this shows if you look at the US versions OB launch. Unfortunately however GOA have taken the EU license and "done a DaoC". I only hope this is just a beta hiccup and the issues that alot of people are having are ironed out ready for headstart.

Either way this sucks for those that still can't get on and I feel even though it's still technically a beta, alot of people preordered on the guarantee (as neileeeee rightfully pointed out) that they would get into open beta on Sunday and should therefore get some kind of free game time extension. I'm sure they'll have accurate records of when people have tried to register and when they actually logged in for the first time.

Well, created a new account, entered the same key that's been getting refused and now I'm patching all in under 5 minutes....

That's how it's supposed to work! Only side effect is that having just worked an 18 hour day (including my voluntary work with the red cross) I'm too fucking tired to play it and I'm out on the lash tomorrow with the company directors so no gamage until Friday...

Ah well, at least I can get to see if my machine can cope or not.

It's GOA's home made account creation system. GOA run Europe on behaof of Mythic.

i.e. Mythic own and develop core software. GOA do everything else around it.

Someone needs a decent slapping for this weeks fuck ups tbh.

I wonder if they'll be better prepared for release or if we'll see a repetition of beta...

Logged in with my new details, pressed play and the thing crashes, back to reinstalling.

I'm just not destined to play this game tbh...

oh but you will - this is still beta and things will still go wrong no matter how good they seem and will always fuck up somewhere along the line.
