I am currently roling a Marauder and really enjoying it. However after reading another post we seem heavy on DPS at the moment. What classes are we in need of, before I get him so high I am happy to roll something we are desperate for. Do we tanks or healers more ?

*cough* your chosen *cough cough*

Seriously - play what you like but - be aware that at some point quests start to dry up in open zones and you're forced to use dungeons and rvr to compensate. Bearing in mind Mainy (shallan) and a couple of the other guys in their mid 20's level wise have commented on this it's going to hit us all soon.

At that point healers and tanks should always have options for groups whereas miscellaneous dps classes might find themselves in the group of death (no healer for you, oh no, muhahahaha)

We can work around our limited numbers of tanks and healers but it does place alot of pressure on a few people and if they're not about your chances of trying certain things is reduced.

We currently have one of each healer class at lvl 20 or above.

Nolander - Disciple of Khaine (26 ish I believe)
Dacovale (me) - Shaman - 23 and a bit
Triggealus - Zealot 20 ( possibly 21 by now)

My advice is simple - if you haven't picked a class to play - try a zealot, dok or shaman :)

If you have a tank and you like the tank playstyle - get him to 20 asap :)

There are some lower level dungeons for you to try in the Inevitable city - these start at around 13 and go up to around 17. The lowest level Champion in Mount gunbad is lvl 23 and when we first tried it a couple of levels ago he ate everyone with very little trouble :)

Last night, however, we gained some payback and some of the quests on offer give out a phenomenal amount of xp. If we'd had more sorcs last night I reckon we'd have blitzed the place :)

Well I tried a couple of classes early on to check styles and enjoyability before I start the slog of my main :)

I like the idea of a DoK healer with a difference - I will get cracking tonight and get them upto speed. I always seem to go healer in the end, it's DaoC again :) my cleric was never without a group tbh and it was a fun class to play.

Will give you a shout later for a inv - Starla inbound.

Ill be on tonight If you want another crack at Gunbad.

On a plus note I decided once i hit 31 and can rvr in tier 4 I will continue to level heavily on the Zealot and hopefully bring a somewhat new style of "delayed healing" to the guild :)

Edit: Reason i wanted dps btw is that for 2-3yrs in daoc i was rvr group shaman, theres only so long you can put up with being the support :p

I'm focusing entirely on my Chosen tank, and learning to play him (and gear him) towards being a 'proper' tank. (i.e he has a shield, multiple CC and defensive aura's etc)

Already having comments pmed to me in pug's because i'm the first chosen char that they see using stuff like 'Hold the Line!'. (most just charge in and die).

I love playing tank so much. Plenty still to learn though. Only At lvl 12 atm so a while to go. :/

just enjoy the game and your class mate :)

On a similar note to mainy - I've played tank/ nuker in every mmo I've ever played.

ironically I started off as a druid in daoc when I first played and it was that which turned me off healing - I found I never got groups at lvl 42 and just deleted it and went paladin on Albion *shudder*

I'm actually, thoroughly enjoying my shammy right now - I just don't want us to fall into the old trap that we fell into in wow - which was if you didn't get online when the healers were online you never got a group or you didn't get to do the fun stuff.

I want everyone to be included in war - I want us to just troll about as a big old warband @ 40 and have a laugh. Whilst I love the setting - what will keep me playing and make me want to log on every night is you guys. We need moar of you on comms too - on comms having a laugh with us.

I've been getting very frustrated with my sorc recently, although I got a good warband going in the RVR area and actually got grouped with a healer, running at 100% dark magic makes me hit like a train and I managed to get best part of 10k renown in under an hour.

I'll just have to wait for you guys to start levelling alts for someone to group with as I'm a bit of a nobby no mates atm with my sorc and I don't want to make the time available to blast up through the levels as I'm keeping RL and gaming time in balance nicely at the moment.

Once the sorc gets capped though, then I think I may go tank as I've never played a true defensive tank in an MMO yet, always healers and nukers.

You are more than welcome to join us for levelling anyway :-)

There is usually a few random groups of people doing something or other.

Quick question about healers ;)

Which is easier for soloing ? I find it is easier to quickly blast through the early Chapters solo before gettign to the grouping stage late on. Thinking DoK or Shaman not sure which one one be viable as solo.

all of them afaik Dammos.

Healers in Warhammer are hybrids so they all have an element of damage to them which makes them relatively easy to level solo and viable as a class in their own right.

Nolander is currently about lvl 26-27 and he's done nearly all of that in small groups or solo :)

I've levelled my shammy solo when you guys aren't about doing pve stuff

I have witnessed a DOk chain soloing 2-3 mobs a go and also killing same level champions.

Yeah - I can solo most same level champions.

it all depends on the type of champion.

I wouldn't try and solo a lvl 23 rippa from gunbad tho - burst dps would annhilate my healing.

My Sorc only has to look at a champion and she dies

Yeah but your sorc would solo about 5 "normal" mobs whilst I killed that champion and gain more xp per minute than I would.

It's no great achievement tbh, it's more a case of having the healing to keep me up whilst my dots and staff swings take away his hp buffer.

Tank champs are MUCH harder than casters as their hp buffer is so much larger. melee dps champs are nasty - I run from them.

I can drop a below level champ its just not worth the effort, I can nail 4-5 other mobs knowing I will survive before I could kill the champ.

Gotta say my new carnage tree spec is the shit :p

Best I've done with my Chosen is take on 4 same level mobs at once and survive well. Same level champions are also a doddle most of the time unless they hit big.

Loving the Chosen. Taking on 4-5 mobs (as above), and also able to take on often 2 same level champions no sweat.

Taunt is also the best skill ever.

Did exactly the same thing last night, over 15 mobs lvl 16 and I was lvl 14. The only reason I didn't kill more is because the PQ ended could have taken more.
