Wow! Nice setup man. Is that video card right though, 640Mb?

Did you get it online or build yaself? If the former, could you give me a link, i'm currently looking for a new PC...

/me wants tbh

Only thing I'm unsure about is the PSU, might be enough power, but I've been reading the 8800 GTS is a real drain on the PSU.

And I'm taking you're gonna hook up your current LCD as well?

The 8800 series comes with either 640/768/1024 MB DDR3 ram. Nutz0rs for games atm, but the up and coming DX10 games, think Q2 2007 or even Q3, will need that. People are even recomending adding a Physx card >.< Impressive movies on that site if you're into pretty gfx tho.

yeah 22" widescreen on one for gaming and then chat/pron on the other

I am considering upping that to a 600w sli psu

Minx - that's a DX10 card mate - so yeah 640mb is right.

I'm just reviewing finances now - if I stick an extra £150 in from my feb paypacket (which I will do I think) I can afford to upgrade the PSU to a 6002sli psu and the graphics card can be upgraded to a 8800GTX. I suspect I'll bump them both up.

bear in mind this PC HAS to last me at least 3-4 years before I make any major upgrades on it - hence it being stupidly specced.

It's working out at around £1400 atm which I think is very reasonable for the spec - it's been put together from bits from www.aria.co.uk

a company I've used before - they're helpful, friendly and don't give you shit if anything ever needs to be returned.

Minx - they'll build a system of your choice for you for £45 - cheap if you want custom built but not the hassle of building it. Either that or get the bits and drive up to mine and I'll build it for you.

That's what i'm after tbh! It's not that building it is a hassle, I just prefer other people to take the responsiblity of it working - i'm basically a Van De Graff generator in disguise, due to my rock n roll hair cut innit ;)

That sounds awsome!

For info, when I bought mine a while back I used http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk as they were by far the cheapest I found. They build for you, and the build quality was fine.

Also a neat config'er to allow you to tweak the spec (or at least there used to be!)

I would get yourself a seasonic PSU 600W it's what I've put in my box, rock steady voltages and pretty low power consumption coupled with low heat and noise.

I got mine from Microdirect as I don't think ARIA sell em, I get all my stuff from those two stores as they are both in Manchester and quite local for me.

It's not being bought for fucking wow!!!!!!

I think aria do a seasonic now or something close - I'll prolly upgrade both psu and gfx.

I build my own pc's and I wouldn't touch alienware with a bargepole. You're paying for the badge and the case styling......

There's also been some serious criticisms of alienwares customer service in the register and on other it sites recently. Considering half of why you buy an alienware pc is the knowledge that it will be kick arse and work well - to see negative customer experiences makes you wonder.,

I think dell bought them recently and I'm not being funny - Dell are great at box shifting - shit at customisation imo

Alienware cases do look good though.

And they've made the sexiest ad ever. From a designer's point of view, at least.
