Every now and again I get "Network Cable is Unplugged" I've tried different network cables and different ports on the router, what else can cause this problem other than a dodgy network card and are there any utilities that I can use to test the network card.

I've only been encountered this problem since I moved my PC downstairs.

Any useful suggestions?

sounds like a dodgy network card for sure, either the connector on the card, or the card itself.

Either way the card needs replacing.

Not sure about testing stuff for NIC's.

Could try start -> run -> ping localhost -t

This performs a continuous ping on ur network card and then check if ur still getting replies when u get the networkcable unplugged message.

Perhaps your router is reseting itself?

:) Or...

Take your router out of the equation and plug the network cable straight from your set top box into your network card. Test to see if you still get the error without the router. If you haven't plugged the pc straight into the set top box before, you'll need your NTL PID and password to register the new MAC address.

If you have one of the older NTL set top boxes, do you need to use a cross over cable? I did on my old model.

After that then I guess network card is your next step (if you haven't changed anything).

Still no edit option in here then? I take it you get connectivity but get that message after a while? If so, forget the crossover cable comment.
Do you get the message after a consistent amount of time? Does the connection restore and then drop again after the same amount of time?
