Why a Mac??

The screen and warranty alone are shite compared to the other 2. Mac software is overpriced as well.

Devices wise the FS beats the HP, but then again who would wanna touch a FS with a barge pole :/

Go HP imo, just make sure its a businessline model rather then the consumer line. Warranty on the business line outclasses the consumer version.

By the looks of things ur looking for a multimedia lappy...u tried Dell?

U should have a looksee @ the HP nc8220 and 8230 as well. Comparable performance in a smaller shell.

I can edit fine :D

I can get them through work, pay monthly with no VAT. Those are the 3 and only options.

The fujitsu one has interchangable cpu and gpu. Scrawling the dirty interweb has unearthed that it's the better one of the 2 PC laptops.

And why a Mac? Well cos i mainly wanted to get a laptop so i could work on, then came to my senses and realised i could get that fujitsu which is better than my pc and buy an old mac for 100quid.

Enable edit mode in this forum methinks.

Have you seen the FS? It looks very nice, smaller and thinner than the HP and very light. plus you can get 2 hdd's and raid em up.

The X600 would limit the lifespan of the HP, whereas i could whack a 7800go in the FS in a few years.

It'd still be a FS tho. And both lappys have interchangable CPU's, and by the time u'd wanna upgrade the gfx of the FS it'd be outdated and out of warranty anyways and prolly nowhere near worth the investment of several 100 quid for a GF Go card.

I agree with the size of both, and in all not too keen on the pavilion series of HP either. But HP would get my vote over FS anyday.

Just because I'm an HP techie doesnt mean I'm biased btw ;)

Anyways, I'd take a good look @ the time u'll be paying for the lappy and make sure the warranty lasts just as long. Would be a waste if u were paying for it for 4 years and just get 3 years warranty.

Laptops are shit simple as. They're only good if you really do need to work on the go rather than save space in your house, though if the idea is for something compact to use on a train etc etc why the hell are the screens getting bigger and bigger? My laptop was my pride and joy a few years ago, now it's my dirty little secret that I try not to talk about.

And it's a good job I read that Kuifje was a HP techie before I slated their workstations :P Servers are ok mind

Also the PC I bought my wife is HP and seems fine so far, give it time though

I agree with Beans, I would only buy the lappy for time away from the office and home for working on rather than gaming, although I would prolly get the powerbook so that I could have a tinker with a different OS, but I'm an engineer so I enjoy breaking things then attempting to fix em.

I've a DELL D600 for work and it's OK for the things I want to do mostly at work, but the GFX card isn't too hot for playing AVI's I've notices on building simulation movie files.

You'll regret it if you buy a laptop to replace your PC. Plus what happened to your shuttle? You're just a fussy bastard :x

It's not to replace my PC it's to work on, but the fact that I can use it for other stuff is a bonus. And my shuttle died somehow, being free an' all from work there's no warranty so i cant get it fixed.

I was until this morning all for getting a powerbook, but as i'd only use it for work and nothing else, it seems a waste seeing as it's the same price as the other 2.

I can't see it growing old as fast as laptops used to. 3 yrs ago my trident cyberblade 32mb(16mb shared video ram) dx6 compatible 1.3g celeron was pretty 'rocking' for the time. At the same time 9800 pro's were coming out and they are still pretty decent cards today. I can't do bugger all with my laptop whereas my spare PC (xp2500, 9800pro, 1gb ram) is still good for another year or two.

As long as i can run photoshop/indesign on the laptop in 3 years time im not fussed. Plus I can play wow on the shitter
