So I'm off on Sunday and I dunno whether to take my HD across with me or not. It's full of mp3s and software downloads that aren't legit, but no pr0n.

I'd have to take it across as hand luggage since the cargo luggage X-Rays pwn HD's. The hand luggage rays are weaker, but I've read that the magnets from the metal detectors can interfere if they're too close.

Since an internal HD looks about as bomb-like as you can get, I dunno if I should bother. At worst they might take it apart, or they could even load it up to check for valid software depending on how stringent the laws on pirated software are in Korea and Japan.

Have any of you travelled with one before?

i haven't but you probably dont want to get banged up in korea for copyright theft. could turn out quite nasty

Just buy a new HD out there, bound to be cheap as chips and extra flashy. I'd burn the mp3s onto DVD or something cos they've got no way to tell if they're legit or not, I know I'll be taking all my CDs and stuff with me when I move to the US, but leaving the PCs and bit behind, though that's partly because I want a new PC from scratch and there's buggerall I can't live without on it atm.

Aye I spose I'll just burn it all and stick it in the suitcase, would save me any headache.
