After watching Trev's PC absolutely piss on mine (for the first time ever :P) at the weekend I have descided I need to upgrade.

Thing is I just started looking around ebuyer and havent a clue what any of it means any more.... I sit repairing laptops all day.... Its all moved on and left me behind!!

So I need help finding a new mobo and CPU that wont completely kill me money wise.

Currently I am running an XPAthlon 2000+ with 768mb of DDR2700 and a Radion 9800 pro....

I was considering this... Radion X800 as an upgrade on the video gard but thats about as far as I can go.... lol

Anyone wanna help?

I'd base a decent machine on an Athlon 64 3500+/1gig PC4200 (dual channel mem = 2 sticks of 512 MB)/Radeon 850XT/nForce 4 mobo.

The tft looks nice, but if u plan on any fast paced gaming (ie. 1st person shooters/racing games) u could get noticable ghosting, I still get occasional ghosting on an 8ms screen.

Avoid putting creative soundcards on NForce4 motherboards at the moment though would be my advice.

Can be more hassle than they are worth.

I r teh geforce fanboi...but the 850xt equivalent from nvidia is the 6800xt and thats still a bit pricey.
