If you can ditch the Wireless network manager that comes with XP and use the one supplied by the NIC supplier (i.e IntelPROset formy laptop)

I always ditch the manufacturers wireless tool and switch back to the Win XP one :x

Could be that the wireless is running in stealth mode and not accepting new connections. Then again, it should prolly be detectable with ur mates wlan card.

I'm guessing ur using USB dongles rather then the mini pci laptop variety?

What make and model is the router?

Also, Renee's advise made sense ;)

Try disabling WEP, WPA and all the other security crap and then try connect, if its works then just restrict access via MAC address's
