Anyone got any thoughts on that lot? The CPU is just a temporary fix for now.

And that lot cost me about 260 quid. Still need to buy a monitor, gfx card and a case\ps.

Seen a 19" monitor for about 150 that has 8ms refresh, 1400:1 contrast, 1280 max res. Is that good?

And what is the mutts nuts of gfx cards atm (not interested in a double SLI card)? And is there a new batch of cards on the way?

1gb RAM is a bit low, the high speed should compensate a bit for that, but ideally with the current games out there u'd want 1.5gb or more.

Not alot wrong with a big ass hdd, I'd advise a smaller hdd (60 to 80gb) for ur OS so u can separate data from OS, but thats a luxury really.

GFX wise theres not alot of new stuff around the corner I think, best price/quality is a GF 7900 GT atm, but I'm an nVidia fanboy and not really up to speed with ATi cards.

A 19" monitor with a natural res of 1280x1024?? I got a 17" with the same specs, thougt 19" would go upto 1600x1200.

Trouble with flatscreens is if ur playing games on a different resolution then the natural resolution u can experience some blurryness in the faster paced games. The monitor really depends on the card ur getting really, but 1280x1024 @ 8ms is a nice basic screen. Widescreen is the dogs testies atm, my lappy is widescreen and its quite nice, esp if ur gonna use the comp to watch movies as well.

Yeah the proc will be upgraded later, as well as the RAM. Im having to budget more than I anticipated due to going out on the piss and eating out too much :S

I was kinda worried about the 1280 res myself tbh, but that seems to be standard from all the shops ive been in unless I wanna spend megabux. But tbh, I always have the desktop on 1280 and usually play games at 1280 too (but then I didnt have as powerful a PC as Im gonna).

Was going for nvidia myself tbh, and ill prolly grab a 7900 next month. ATI kinda dropped the ball on the X1900s afaik.

What's the monitor you're looking at Delts? I have a Samsung 930BF, which is fine for wow, daoc and movies but must admit I haven't played any FPS games on it.

Went with an LG Flatron L1751SQ due to budget reasons.
