Atm my e-peen is tiny as my PC is a piece of shit. I'm holding off buying a new one until I move to the US but I'm getting sick of only having a Radeon 9600, do you reckon it's worth upgrading to a X1600 as they're cheap as chips. Don't go on about NVidea stuff as I'd rather fry my nuts in a wok than switch to them :D

No it's not worth it

Schitzophrenic results. Better than a 6600 gt but pwned by a 6800gt. I'd honestly HONESTLY look at a 7600gt. It will probably be better.

bear in mind I was an ati fanboi. 9700pro, 9800pro I loved my ati's but the new 6800/7600/7800 nvidia cards are better for your money.

another thing

If you're running on an old amd2000 then the chances are your motherboard and memory will bottleneck the graphics card so you might not see much of an improvement anyway.

I'd hold fire until you get to the states, you'll get a better pc with more up to date hardware for your money.

pick up a cheap 9800 pro, i doubt anything much better than that will give you huge performance gain due to the rest of your system.

or a 6600gt

It's gone 12 and I haven't ordered anything so it means I won't get it next day now, so I'm not bothering :P The best thing about online shopping is that I'm far too impatient to wait for things to arrive so I generally don't buy anything :D

I'd wait with buying ANY kind of graphic cards until the new generation of cards arrive this fall (DX10 cards) - when they arrive the older cards will drop in price.

Just wish the same would happen to CPU/Mobos. Dammit.

CPU prices will drop when the quad cores come out, so I'm guessing the mobo prices will drop too atleast for Intel ones if they're changing their sockets yet again.
