Hi,
This is probably something really straight forward, but I would like some advice on what settings I need to alter to make this site perform better on my laptop.

On my home PC, I go to cybergings.org, navigate to the forums, and the site switches to beta.fun4forums.co.uk/viewtopic...etc. At home my login is remembered, and the read/unread symbols are correct. When I ask to be logged in each visit I am. All in all quite user friendly.

On my work laptop however, the address recorded in my browser remains cybergings.org regardless of which forum or thread i am looking in. I have to re-log in at each visit (despite checking the remember me box), and I will often have to re-log in whilst navigating around the different forums. Performance is also a lot slower.

As I said, its probably something as simple as a cookie setting or something like that, but I cant find it.

I am running Internet Explorer version 6 on both machines.

My work machine has to run that browser, so I dont want this topic to turn into a 'you should use xxxx browser instead' debate :)

Its not the end of the world that I have to relog all the time, but if anyone knows how to fix it, it would be appreciated.

TIA

Maui

You tried going directly to http://beta.fun4forums.co.uk/ ? Not sure if the cookies will store properly if the wrong address is in the IE bar. I'm just guessing though as I know feck all about IE nowadays :D

Ring up the network administrator and tell them you're finding it difficult to browse forums when you're supposed to be working. I'm sure they'll fix it right away :D

Well the simplest solutions are often the best! In this case the simplest solution was to say 'ah well, fuck it', so actually the second simplest solution was the best here.

I now go direct to the beta.fun4forums.... site, and when i come back my login is remembered!

As with most problems, i will give up trying to work out why it didnt work before, and just thank Beans for the idea :)

seems to be sorted.

Edit 2: fuk no, it didn't solve shit

Edit 3: Added http://beta.fun4forums.co.uk/ to trused sites, works fine, it seems. Though going straight to http://beta.fun4forums.co.uk/ might be better for work, looses the bigass WoW-logo ppl tend to see when passing by...

I get a message saying only secure sites can be added to trusted sites.

Ah well, I have it kind of sorted for me now.

I can either go straight to the forum site which seems to work, or go to cybergings.org and shift+click the forums link. This opens the beta.fun4forums page in a new window (which remembers my login), and leave the DKP links etc in the old window.
