With ordering my new system I have told a guy at work he can have my old one for a nominal price but I'm not sure what is a reasonable price to offer him. Second hand PCs dont seem to have any value at all and specs now mean you can get a lot for your cash.

What would you say is a reasonable price for the following:

AMD Athlon 3200 Barton core
Good Asus mobo
1 gb RAM
80gb Hard drive
ATI 9600XT gfx card
Plextor CDRW and seperate DVD drive
19" CRT monitor

I was tempted to let him have it for £50 tbh

I end up horading PC bits and supplying various family with my hand me downs. If I got £50 for that I'd be happy.

I'd make sure you say if anything breaks it's not your job to fix it. I normally give my old PCs or bits away like Sift yet people still seem to think that you provide a lifetime warranty with them.

same, usually hand them out to m8's when something breaks, and end up with then wanting a full service, so ive taken to just throwing them in a box.

Say the hard drive is chock full of porn and charge him £100.
I give my old ones to family and friends though I did donate one to my kids school once but got a phone call from some twatish council IT guy hassling me cos I hadn't done it through proper channels and he told the school they couldn't use it. In the end the PTA raffled it and got £115 from the raffle so that was good.

Anywho £50 sounds reasonable

On that note, does anyone want a 56k ISDN stand alone modem?
