Rest looks good

would do same as n3m said, also i would replace that monitor for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =MO-050-SA

i just got one of those after my brother did and its an incredible monitor, amazing picture quality and the refresh rate means it makes games look so good its unreal for that price. Also the TFT wont give you the full effect of that gfx card's power, the LCD puts it to so much better use.

Cheers for the responses guys. I was looking at the price really, wondering why it appeared to be so cheap compared to other system builders. I am going to wait a little longer, in any case, now that Conan has been delayed for a bit.

- Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB 16MB Cache SATA-II
- Thermaltake High Performance 500W PSU
- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit OEM
- Logitech Cordless Desktop EX-110 Keyboard & Mouse
- Logitech S220 2.1 High Quality Speakers

- 20x DVD-RW/CD-RW Optical Drive (Black)

Need to get a monitor on top of this which will be +£200.

This seems to be a pretty good spec PC for £991.

Wanna just throw one thought in here 650i chipset isn't getting any younger so mainboard is poss the 1st thing to swop going forward .
So with that in mind are you likely to get much benefit from 4gb ddr2 ram when probably the next board will take ddr3 ?
Yes there are hybrid ddr2/ddr3 boards that review well but maybe 2gb now and see what main you get next.
Anyone seen reviews of 2gb vs 4gb and the boost ?

UPGRADE THE PSU!!!111111

500W isn't man enough for the job

you want a 600W PSU minimum.

Can I both agree and disagree with mongoose ,a quality 500w will be fine with the bits picked but if you start to add other bits hdd,2nd optical,tv tuner etc you will be sorry you didn't go higher. Top end systems these days have psu's with 1000w ,seems mad but then seen an article with 4 gfx cards

I had a 500W 'branded' psu in my last pc running a 6800GT. My card died cos the psu wasn't giving it enough power to run the fans properly under heavy system load.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS fit a 600W + PSU when you fit a high end graphics card.

Please Sifty read between the lines m8 :?
Look at the deals and see if you can get more than 500w 600 /750 will be better
but if they are giving away 1000w you will never have issues again
Quality is everything a £20 600w will be worse than an antec /ocz/enermax 500w
got a 600w ocz in mine was £50 no issues
got more drives in mine but only 1950 ati pro gfx

Has anyone worked out how much it costs to run their PC every month due to electricity consumption?

I'm only messing Adri. The feedback is much appreciated and the PSU stuff is good advice. Not too worried about DDR3 right now tbh as there is not enough difference in performance to justify the price and I think that by the time the performance is justified I will be due an upgrade of whatever current motherboard is available right now (based on an assumption that technology will continue to develop).

Have you considered upgrading the PSU?

hehe - On a slightly more worthwhile but less 'on-topic' note.....
I look at my PC as a major power user. I may have the physics all wrong here, but when i see a 600w PSU, I look at that as 600 watts of consumption while its on. Say for instance I am downloading a hardcore porn film with young ladies and rubber catsuits in it. If I leave the PC on all night I can consider it the same as leaving 10 x 60 watt light bulbs on all night. That to me seems kinda pricey. Does the PSU use 600W all the time that it's on?

Im thinking that I might have to invent some sort of kinetic decive that can power the grid whilst I enthusiatically masturbate over the afore-mentioned film.

Im off to submit my invention to dragons den...

If i recall a PC uses around the same power as a fridge/freezer.

I download filth on my laptop as it draws considerably less power than my desktop. Plus I can then watch it on the train into work. Don't travel by Arriva trains or you may end up in a puddle of Gyng man sauce.
Oh and Goose is spot on, get some serious beef for a psu
