Not a massive budget at £600ish quid, but it should get me a decent enough system. I don't need any peripherals so it's just the base unit I need.

Tweaked the below spec from www.chillblast.com. Any recommendations?

Also, is it worth getting Vista over XP ?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 processor overclocked (up to) 3.4GHz
Asus P5K-SE Motherboard
nVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB Graphics Card
Coolermaster Elite 330 Black Case
500W Power Supply
4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory
20x DVD-RW/CD-RW Optical Drive (Black)
500GB SATA 7200rpm Hard Disk
Onboard High Definition Audio
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit OEM with SP1
2 Year Collect and Return Warranty - see bottom of description

Total Price inc.VAT: £617.51

Cheers fellas!

If you are getting Vista try to get a 64-bit version else you're wasting some of your RAM. Personally if it were going to cost me money I wouldn't bother with Vista.

Can you stretch to a GTX on the graphics front Fish? Might keep you going for a bit longer. DX10 is only available in Vista I believe so a potential consideration if you are worried about that.

There was no option to upgrade to 8800GTX, so I just stuck with the 8800GT. It'll do the job for now, my gaming time allowance seems to be less and less these days!

Women, pfffffffft
