Hi guys, I recently got a nasty virus which caused a fatal error before Safe mode could load and forced me to do something drastic, like installing Vista upgrade from XP, so as to keep HD contents (music, pics, vids) like a cheater way to re-format C:. While I get to keep all the files intact I basically have to re-install all the applications/games untilities like a format, something I've been meaning to do for ages anyway but never got around to it.

So here's the problem, I'm experiencing pixelated video on AVI's etc, they used to play clean as a whistle, but now not so, I think it's either a Codec problem or a player problem. Does anyone have knowledge of this or can tell me a good sorce for all incompasing codec's or player, I need to play the usuals MP4, Flv, Divx, Xvid, MP3, WMV etc.

I have tried downloading Divx player, Media player 11, Xvid, & FFdShow, but they don't seem to be fixing the problem.

No joy bud

It's like anti-aliazing has been turned off on a game, edges have jaged/pixelated lines, which I really shouldn't be seeing in a digital movie

hmmz
that's not good. Have you updated to the latest drivers etc? Checked your windows media player install etc?

Sounds like you've got a definite codec issue.

from googling & looking a several threads, there seems to be a general consenus that it's not codec related, that indeed it's driver-windows related, most of the threads claim to have the problem on windows 7 after upgrading. With statements saying that there other XP computer plays the AVI files better lol. Unfortunately it's not just nVidia cards or a specific media player. I now have 5 or 6 codecs & about 5 players installed lol, I've also tried 2 different driver sets, both are very new though. Kinda funny that I get better graphics in an intensive game than on a DVD player lol.

If anyone has an earlier driver for a nVdia Geforce 7900 GS that I could try out.
