Xp Prof 64bit or Windows 7 Prof 64 bit?

Anyone shine any light on which one wil be best for little old me?

Will 7 be ok on 4gb or will I need to take it to 8 to justify the jump?

I'd go with 7, it's as fast as XP and I just read something about new hard drives coming out in the future that XP won't be as good with. 7 will run fine on 4GB as it handles memory better than Vista.

I'm on 7 64bit with no problems, I'm running 8Gb in fairness, but I think 4Gb would be cool too.

if your going to get a new os then it has to be 7.
As Beans mentions theres a new gen of hard drives coming out that write data in larger blocks than the current 512kb and xp doesnt support them. Also ive noticed a few of the new games dont support xp anymore, just cause 2 is one that springs to mind.
