not necessarily, i switched one of my pcs over to another case with mobo in over the weekend and didnt have to reinstall, mainly due to them both having nforce chipsets. Even if the chipsets are different, you should only have to install new drivers.

Like forensic said, not necessarily.

It can wreck performance on your system and can render it unaccesible. However, if Win XP does it's work it should create a 2nd hardware profile.

I've seen it go horribly wrong on laptops tho, with no other option to reinstall. Make a backup before u switch hardware, and not on a 2nd partition but burn it to cd or summin.

tbh i've done this - did it at an i series lan when forensic made me put some ram in backwards - bast :<

I could use the machine without reformatting after ripping out the chipset drivers and letting windows redetect.

However in games like wolf and ut i was getting about 3fps, it messes with the bus management due to old drivers in the registry afaik.

Tbh m8, if it's in an emergency you can get by - if its permanent my advice is to bite the bullet and reformat and reinstall.

Hope it helps.

You could add this line to your HOSTS file

127.0.0.1 www.imageshack.us

Use notepad and make sure it hasn't saved it as HOSTS.txt then clear out your explorer cache.

Its the hippo I feel sorry for.
