Not looking for advice for once, just showing off :D

After 5 years of my old pc, I'm building a new one tonight:

Intel® Core™ (Ivy Bridge) i5-3570K 6MB Cache Quad-Core Processor (OCing to 4.4 ghz)
VTX3D Black Edition Radeon HD 7870 (Tahiti LE) OC 2GB
8GB Corsair Vengeance LP (2x4096) DDR3 1600MHz Dual-Channel Memory
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
OCZ Agility 3 240GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive

Fingers crossed I can actually manage it after not having built one for ages.

Now all you need is permission to play games on it... ;)

Nicely done... I keep threatening to put a SSD in my MBP but the fact I've got it working just how I like it atm and cba rebuilding puts me off...

Nice one J. Might have to look at what those parts cost and nick that spec for myself. This is the longest I have ever gone between PC builds. have fun with it.

Go for it Sift. Got the idea from a bundle available at www.aria.co.uk and also at www.overclockers.co.uk , but didn't fancy paying the premium for them to build and overclock the mobo, chip, cooler and RAM combo.

Looked again today and Aria have dropped the price of the pre-built bundle by £50 so it looks good value, and the gfx card is cheaper too, but I bought it a few months ago so not too annoyed. If you already have a case + PSU that can cope then the bundle plus gfx card and the SSD comes in at £710 plus postage. I didn't find anywhere cheaper than Aria and I use them regularly as they're in Manchester and I can pick up from the counter.

Only downside is my case is too narrow for the monster CPU cooler so need a new one of them too. PC is currently sat with the side off for eeerrr....better ventilation ;)

Quite similar to my new build.

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
Intel Core i5 3570K
Fractal Design Define R4 Case
128GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Corsair Hydro H70 CPU Cooler
850W Silverstone PSU
Sapphire 7970 GHZ

I broke the bank on a 7970GHZ in a moment of insanity.

The CPU is a good clocker and hit 4.5ghz easy, very happy with the build. Hope you're enjoying yours :)

Nice one Fish. That Fractal case is the one I was going to go for. Are you happy with it?

Very happy.

There's plenty scope for fan placement and comes with a nifty built in fan controller. Fantastic cable management and looks smart. Also, the 3.5" and 2.5" trays are removable to free up space inside for airflow if the extra bays aren't needed.

I'd highly recommend it :)

Amazing case. Rebuilt the PC today and it was a pleasure to work with next to my old piece of crap. The attention to detail is amazing, even down to the black thumb screws and HDD mounting screws to match the case. Two 140mm fans going and it is silent. Carolyn came in after I'd finished and asked if I was having trouble getting it to work as she thought it was powered off!
