Hi all,
I have been trying to keep my old PC running as I cant really afford to get a new one right now.

I have recently performed a fresh installation of windows but have an issue when i try to play a game.

I installed world of tanks which was when i first realised there was a problem.
The game loads ok, but after a short period of time the game freezes (sometimes in the garage, and always within the first few seconds of a battle). I initially thought it was a problem with the game or my spec being too low, but have since noticed it on the only other game I have on the PC since refreshing windows.

I have successfully played CIV5 on the machine, though not for about 3 weeks. I just loaded it up and the same thing happened, so something has changed in the meantime.

When the machine freezes I can do nothing. The mouse pointer wont move, and no kind of keyboard shortcut seems to do anything (ctrl+alt+del etc)
The only thing I can do it turn the PC off with the power button and turn it back on again.

There is obviously some hardware/driver issue, and I wondered how best to narrow it down.

I have got the latest drivers for the graphics card, and this may even be the cause of the problem - i just dont know. If the GFx card is dodgy it will be a shame as it is quite new and was hopefully going to make it into the new PC if i ever get round to getting one!

I dont really have spare parts to enable me to remove certain bits and see if the problems go away, so im a bit stuck.

any ideas?

Im considering removing the graphics card drivers and re-installnig the ones that came on the disc. worth a try?

I'd certainly try the older graphics card drivers, I know if I update my graphics card drivers I get a BSOD so I rolled back to older versions.
