Andy?s SWG FAQ

Combat
Bleeds ? These stack, and also give no xp. If you?re going for master marksman, a bleed from pistol then finishing off with rifle or carbine is a good tactic, as you?ll get full rifle/carbine xp.

Pistols ? Kip-up shot (Pistol 2) is one of the most damaging styles there is. Better than double tap (Pistoleer 2).

Ranged ? Suppression fire (Ranged 4) is perhaps one of the best styles for PvE (lowers posture and stuns them, bit like a mezz). Very useful in PvP for getting out of range of your enemy, as they?ll be knocked to a lower posture for a few seconds. Also does good damage. Also very useful for taking on red con mobs as you can stop them in their tracks as you set about them with other styles.

Armour ? Bone armour generally does nothing in PvE as it absorbs energy, which only comes from blasters. It can be ok if you?re doing reb/imp missions, but useless against creatures as they usually deal kinetic damage.

Pistol quality ? An FWG5 made by a master weaponsmith should be around 50-170 damage. Up to 220 damage isn?t uncommon with decent materials.
Scout Blasters are a very good backup weapon to an FWG5 as the speed is generally a lot faster. They also output energy damage as opposed to FWG5?s heat. Examine the enemy for heat/energy resists etc. This is handy on some of the advanced planets. Can get SB?s around 40-110 damage I think. The speed increase can mean more damage output than a FWG5, although an FWG5 usually deals more damage.
From all the main pistols, these 2 are the only decent ones IMO.
DX2 ? This fires acid, but usually has lower damage stats than FWG5?s. This isn?t really a problem as it also pierces armour level 1. That means it generally does more damage to certain targets. Namely NPC?s that have no armour and players who have no acid resist. A very good gun for Lok, as a lot of creatures have extremely high heat and energy resists. This is usable by those with Novice Pistoleer.

Creature Handling
For those with no CH skill there are some decent pets available. The cu-pa, rock beetle and kahmuura. Cu-pa?s have ranged attack, as do rock beetles, but rock beetles also have armour lvl 1. Kahmurra?s can be bought from a Bio Engineer or found on Talus. For first level CH, ie, 1,1,0,0 undoubtedly the best pets are the Grand Wrix (found on Corellia NW of Kor Vella I think), with 100% heat resist, which means it?s great for PvP against all those using FWG5?s, or the Greater Sludge Panther with 100% acid resist (found on Talus).

Easiest commands for the pets are f for follow, a to attack etc. The 1 letter works much better than having to type it in all the time. And yes, pets can be dumb and not understand you from time to time. If they are far away, then /yell f and they should obey the command to follow.

If you train all pets to the same commands, faction pets, normal pets, droids etc, then they all follow/attack etc at the same time when you ?/yell f? if you have a few called out.

Crafting
Grinding - Fastest way of levelling up artisan is to repeatedly practice making Chemical Survey Devices. Unless you want master artisan there?s not a huge benefit from getting survey 4. If you want a vendor you can get business3, and make a droid vendor, then get rid of the business skills and the vendor will still be there. (at least it used to be like this unless they changed it). Best sellers from artisan are weapon powerups. If you have good enough resources you can get 32% increase on stats. The more widely purchased are those with 32% max damage and the secondary increase in speed. You can sell a factory crate of these for 3k easily.

Experimentation ? To experiment you either need a personal crafting station built into a droid, one in your house or one in the cities. You also need the same specialized crafting tool to experiment (for guns use the weapon one, buildings need the structure one). You get more points to experiment with as you level up in each crafting profession. Ok, so you want to make a CDEF pistol. If you look at the schematic details it says 50% conductivity and 50% overall quality. The best metal for these is generally copper. If you get good copper with conductivity in the 900?s and some plastic with 900+ overall quality you?ll make a very nice noob weapon. If the stats that the schematic requires for good experimentation are low, you?ll make a piece of shit that nobody will buy. Some items are capped at a certain level. I think the CDEFs cap out at 30ish min damage and about 65-70 max damage, no matter how many experimentation points you have left.

Entertainers
Musicians ? For better xp gain double your flourises. Make a macro something like this:

/flourish 1
/flourish 2
/pause 10
/flourish 3
/flourish 4
/pause10

etc?

if you don?t /pause or are a rodian with maxed action you?ll lose it very quickly

Macros
Crafting
-------------------
[place this in toolbar slot 1, place a crafting tool in slot 12 (the one underneath slot 1)] (yes you can have a double stacked toolbar by holding the mouse on the lower edge of the toolbar and dragging down to create another level. These are accessed by the F keys I think, or maybe Shift. Can?t remember).

Note: these are all case sensitive and will not produce items. If you want to macro craft and make things, lose the ?practice no item? from them. This will repeatedly run until you right click and remove the icon from the toolbar, as it?s set to click each toolbar slot when each is finished.

the /select DraftSchematic selects the schematic number from the list in the datapad. Generally it?s hit and miss as to which schematic you?re after.
The wait times need to be altered depending on what you?re making and how difficult it is (harder=takes longer)
All you need to do after these macros are underway is to double click on the ingredients to add them.

Note: These may need fine tuned. Haven?t used them for ages.

Toolbar tips
Have 3-4 combat styles in there. Traps, medicine, a /heal self macro icon and more importantly the burst run. I find this easiest on the far right as its easier to hit without looking.

My toolbar is generally,
1-3 ? different weapons
4-7 ? combat styles
8-0 ? medicine
-&+ - heal self and burst run

the harvest macros are on the second row along with others to heal other people.

Map
When running in the wild, use the overlay map by pressing M as default. This generally shows mobs that haven?t drawn yet on screen, which is handy to avoid unexpected agro. You can zoom in/out on this by holding CRTL and scrolling the mouse wheel

Keys
Edit the commands for text copy/paste to standard CRTL+C/CRTL+V, very handy for posting and copying urls between desktop and in-game.

Price guides
These have probably changed as architect experimentation has been brought in. Previously all items were identical no matter what resources were used.

Small houses ? 10-15k
Medium ? around 70k
Large ? 130-160k

Factories ? 50-60k
Small personal harvesters ? 1k
Medium Mineral and solar ? 20-30k
Medium chemical, flora and water ? 50-60k
Large harvesters ? 90-120k (Some take more resources, can?t remember which)

Look out for storage capacity and extraction rate on the harvesters. Medium usually have about 50k units of space and no idea about extraction. Just be careful of dodgy architects using crap materials which give very small storage.

The above prices are a little more than 4 or 5/c per unit, which makes many architects quit as they can make more cash selling the resources on the bazaar.

Weaponsmiths and armoursmiths usually charge at least 15c/unit.

Very good tip. Buy a solar generator or 2, find a good spot of sun and sell it constantly on the bazaar. Usually 1.5c/unit. The average solar generator on a 60%+ spot can harvest about 8k units/day. If the energy rating of the solar is over 500, then sell for more, as the higher the rating the more power it produces. So in effect solar with a potential energy rating of 1000 will last twice as long. I think.

hah, doesnt necesarilly mean they're decent games. I had to play Echelon Wind Warriors for 2 nights in a row. what a pile of shit. AND champ man 03/04 for a week! Still, i got Cambridge to the premier in 5 seasons.
