I think we should start to think about decentralizing the PA Hall as the main center of commerce in Ius. As we grow with more citizens, the further away from the center of town their houses will be. With the majority of the city at the minute being guilded in eXodus we have been using the PA as our shopping mall. This is unfair to citizens who aren't in the PA as passers by hardly look for any other vendors. I'm in the process of moving all my vendors to a merchant tent outside my house and i think we should start looking at 4 major choke points for customers. One towards coronet, near the bank up the hill. One past the PA Hall, One up the street leading to Thix/Deltaccas house and the last behind the PA Hall where the houses are situated.

Ideally i think 8 merchant tents we can divide between 2-3 citizens (4 max vendors per tent) would be enough to start with but this would mean we need more 0400 merchants who can provide lots for placement.

so basically looking something like this

...............................vendors.............................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
vendors===PA===CityHall=========vendors -----> South
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
................................ Bank................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
...................................||...................................
..............................vendors.............................

Any comments/suggestions?

I know this will be a pain to move vendors so im not expecting too many enthusiasts, but i believe it will help the city as a whole, not only making it look nicer, but also to look more appealing to customers.

My vendor goes soon anyways as I'll have nothing to sell on it so I don't think I'm going to bother re-grinding to merchant unless I deicde to master it one day.

How will we pay for the tents though? Will it just go from the city tax or will the merchant have to chase up the vendor owners?

I really like the idea of using tents, thus creating some sort of market.

I have a slightly different suggestion though (hopefully not pissing too many people off, as it will probably mean some houses have to move). How about creating a big market square in front of the City Hall. Big enough to create one big market with all the vendors of the entire city?

It *is* a bit less friendly to customers, I admit. They would probably prefer vendors on the edge of town. However, from an aspiring architect's and roleplayer's point of view, it does help towards creating the illusion of a real city.

Good idea to put advanced profession trainers in the city btw, it will help draw players towards the city once word gets out, hopefully creating more business for our vendors along the way.
