Have had a new shape Astra for the past two and a half to three years and it's been great - not one problem. You don't get caned on the tax front either which is nice and putting things in like a DAB radio doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Wife wants one of the in the picture but I have said no.

Got to renew my company car in November and have decided to go with one of these.

Id just like to point out its not just an ordinary Astra.. Its the 2.0T VXR.. And having had the 3 day test drive i can confirm its a fukin lunatic of a motor.

Top Gear have been raving about the astra vxi's for a while now.

They're supposed to be great fun - as is the monaro - why didn't you go for that xui?

You can scoff at the vauxhall badge all you like - they're really starting to crank out some proper petrolhead cars

Coz that would of cost me an extra £100 a month .. besides if i wanted the Monaro id prefer the VXR8 .. The Astra VXR has a 0-60 of 6 secs and 240bhp the VXR8 (which is based from the monaro) has a 0-60 of 4 secs and 480bhp.

Really nice motor the VXR8 but i cant justify the cost/month

From road tests there are 3 cars that fall into the same range as the Astra VXR.. They are the VXR , The Focus STV or Asbo and the Golf R32.

both the astra and the golf piss on the focus. The only reason the R32 comes above the Astra is due to its 4wd..

I had three campany cars back in the Lowlands: A VW Golf, Seat Ibiza and some other piece of junk. Every three years you had to get a new one, God knows why.

Now the wife and i have a Ford Escape en a brandnew Corolla. Toyota ftw!

I may have to look for something like that, had an 18 wheeler lorry drive over the front of the car last night so it's pretty much buggered now. Hoping that the insurance companies don't screw us though and try and put some of the blame on us as the lorry driver laughably tried to say we weren't slowing down whilst he turned in to our road, not quite sure how you can slow down when you're stopped and a good 30 meters away from the stop sign to give the lorry room to turn

I have a Ford Escape, a sort of mini SUV but it exceeds the expectations so far. Quite handy because it's a little higher than a normal car. Not unimportant if you are 6'7.

And it rocks if you have kids too.
