I'm off to the US on the 28th August. Flying in to San Francisco, being driven to San Jose, picking up a Harley (ugh... but it is America) and then pootling off to ride through California, Nevada and Utah. We'll head up to Reno and stop by Lake Tahoe for obligatory photos. We're going along highway 50, which is a road hundreds of miles long and relatively straight. It's affectionately known as 'America's Loneliest Road'. It's the one with the big mountain at the end that never seems to get any closer. Then through the desert to see the motorcycle Salt Flat Racing/Speed record attempts. Although we're staying in Wendover, as the racing is on for 7 days, I'm sure a couple of hours of standing in the blazing sun, on reflective salt, watching bikes half a mile away travelling in a straight line will convince me that I should spend the rest of my time doing some more riding. I'm due back on September 11th. Bit of a bitch that the exchange rate is taking a dive at the moment but do I care....
We've not been overly worried about planning but here's the route we'll be taking:
