As for the game
- Gfx/animation great and ive not been able to get everthing up full as SLI/crossfire isn't working atm with it
(and i need a new processor for it tbh)
- Their "fixing the camera" which is def needed for mouse/keybored users.

- Movement takes some getting used to unless you played FFXI
- Didnt get to try much combat but its fater then FFXI and feels smoother, but not a button mash like wow.. need to get in game more really to have an opinion

- UI is emm... different, will work well for Ps3 i think
- Mouse is sluggish imo
- Its menu orientated (personal + for me)

Crafting / Classes / Combat i didnt get in game long enough to try out enough to comment yet.
But the fact you can have one toon to do it all is a nice +
As I'll be going Ranger (or lancer) I think then Level conjurer (healer) so i have it if needed

Overall I really liked what i got to see for PvE its looking good.

Oh and as for Downloading, if they haven't sorted the speeds out get started now, as it was really poor!
You can speed it up using Utorrent.

Ill be getting it on the ps3 when it comes out I think as the impression I got of this was that it was designed as a console MMO and ported to the pc. If you lot think differently from the beta then let me know and I may reconsider.

Unplayable with a kboard and mouse at present imo..

No options to change kboard settings and doesnt seem to wanna work with either a ps or xbox controller.

No options to change display settings either .. Not fun playing in a window the size of a postage stamp ..

Ill keep and eye on updates and try this again later.

Control system? So far I've managed to kill a fish-like facehugger. I can't even find my way out of the goddamn city. The tutorials are non-existent, and the controls are fucking useless. How anyone can get past level 1 is a mystery to me.

Or maybe I'm just stupid.

But it does look good, in a "we'll cater to your fetishes" sort of way.

Look in your journal, closest thing you get to a guide - class section.
You eventually get used to the city took me about 2hours.
Aye controls need sorting but I've got used to em just about.

Sort out gathering speed (cool mini game) and the controls I can see it getting a 8/10 easy.

utter wank .. shit controls (which is an understatement) , leaves you standing around like a plumb without a scooby as to what youre supposed to do.

Ill come back to it in a month or so after a few updates but so far bitterly dissapointed

When/If they change the controls much I'll let you know.

Did you try giving up the mouse and using just the keyboard?
Tried it for 1/2 hour before I went out and seemed much better.

Camera Sorted id say with the mouse now.
They removed that silly rotate and just made it like most other mmos so its fixed to your mouse with Rightclick.

Turning is a touch sharper too (or seems tha way) though its still classic FF movement.

Still cant redo the keyboard controls yet though.

Ok granted theyve sorted the controls so its not as bad now ..

But its still dull as fuck to play ..

I've never liked Final Fantasy games meself. Not even sure why you;d want to play one online. Only good things about them are chocobos or whatever they are.

Worst thing for me was the laggyness in the 1-10 area, and people already on the must hit cap! grind :S why I've no idea.


Glad I'm out of it now though went gathering and found some nice spots to keep away from the crowds to grab a few easy Lvs try the 3rd part the story out.

You tried the crafting/gathering or main story yet?

Beta Phase 3 went up in the night.
I went on just before their servers went off for a patch, but seems a lot faster and they have overhauled a lot of the UI and battle speed, Movement has been changed as well as Camera Controls.

They also added the LS (guild) system and macro's which will allow you to change class and the gear for that class with just one macro.

And it seems the Gfx have been up'd again, cant really test till they Get SLI working as i'm already running with low AA and DoF/AO off to get 20-40 fps at 1920x1200.

Pretty impressive launch trailer tried to download the beta but it was slow as fuck so I didn't bother, might have a look after release.

Whats the verdict on this game?

Was just looking at the pre-order on play.com and dont know whether to bother with it or not. Is it gonna be a massive flop or will it be a decent game?

I Think depends is the only answer I can give if I'm honest.
But I can say that a week ago i was meh, since the pre launch party info about updates and changes made since the beta was relsesd,
the into video and more images/info on items and mob I'm seriously looking forward to it again.
And I've got the Collectors Edition so I should be in game Wednesday to see what's changed if your thinking of pre ordering the normal edition macy

Its different just like AoC/War was so it will come down to how they handle it post launch more then anything else. its not a wow that's for sure.
But SE are really keeping a lot close to their chest it seems (i know they did in FFXI with each expansion and content update so not a surprise).
Supposedly theirs only 20% of the content available in the beta, and from what i've read with people digging about in the .dat files or such that seems to fit to a point.
If you played FFXI then you'll have a feel for how it plays , but it is much more solo friendly this time around.

The Gfx are just amazing and will eat you PC if you max them.
I've pushed My Oc to hell now and and got soso fps with relatively hi gfx
(if i turn of DoF id have 40+ in crowds but it to nice a feature lol)

The armoury (class) system - Brilliant, no need for alts and a lot of skills cross over from one class to another,
meaning 2 players using an tank could have a totally different skill set to each other dependent on what else they have played with.
But both would be viable, meaning it should be a very interesting system to play around with.
Crafters - Really is an actual class, I'm soso at It.
Other are good some people just blow every item up.
It can be fun but also really infuriating.
Grouping needs balancing still imo.
Controles - their ok, but a controller or game pad (think n52te or the like) really do help.
PvP - We know we get it but know bugger all about it.
Housing - We think we get it lol
Market wards.. - Ok think a bad AH with no search its the biggest issue still going atm, they are adding features for launch they say but what is another question
End Game - We don't really know much, its heavily story based though around leves and will be challenging.
But end game isn't just max Level
One part is faction leves which you can do ant different levels, say your a new class you could do a Level 10 faction leve with others.
Their is other end game but their still just hinting about it.

and other sections, their obviously doomsayers and fanboys in a forum like that but i'l have a better idea in 5/6 days..
