We have a wii, and it gather dust now. the kids have an xbox 360, but i was thinking of getting a PS3 this xmas for me and the wife - haha! Any views?

What games were you planning to play, then?

I have to fight the urge to pick up a PS3 every time I go to the mall. The only thing stopping me, apart from the $500 is knowing my little shit of a dog would eat it if left alone with it, when I get a house and somewhere else to lock the dog up they'll be no stopping me.

I've got a Wii and a PS3. The PS3 is the one that gets about 90% of my time console wise.

Still play mostly on the PC though.

Hmm, mine has mostly bee used as a DVD player since I got it. But then, I'm not interested in many of the current games. I do plan to get Assasins creed, GTA 4, the new Tony hawk, Grand turismo, Guitart hero 3 & a few other games due for release soonish. So while it hadn't really been over used, I think it should start really picking up. I knew it would be the case when I bought it. I didn't expect to have a lot to do with it straight away. Which is a big flaw on Sonys side of things tbh, they should have had the good games for launch, not 6=12 months down the line.

I have 0 interest in the ps3 or the Xbox360. I'm waiting for the quality games to arrive for the Wii. I enjoy playing resident evil wii edition and I've got mario olympics to play but my main problem is finding the time to play.

I don't like playing games in front of stef if they're inappropriate. This means I'm waiting on him being asleep and Lenka not minding me hogging the tv for an hour or so.

Id wait until purchasing a PS3 the price should drop soon for the console and the lack of any really inspiring PS3 only games doesn't fill me with enthusiasm. Mate of mine lent me his PS3 for a couple of weeks and i switched it on once. For me its a fukin expensive blueray player and nothing else atm.

If I were really interested in buying a console, it would be the x360.
I don't really see why people would go for the ps3 when they get the x360
for half the price. They pretty much have the same games, plus the likes
of Mass Effect on the 360

For me I'd go with PS3 because my X-Box I owned for about 6 months then sold, hated the controller, never liked Halo and never liked Microsoft either
Nintendo I've always been disappointed by their consoles apart from their Game Boys, DS still rules. Sony have never let me down yet for the kind of games I want from consoles. PS3 doesn't really cost that much more than the 360 if you compare like for like, their Elite is probably similar for features to toe 80GB PS3, though still has less power.

The PS3 is about 500 CAD, so its not overly expensive. I quite fancy UT which is supposed to be out this week, and COD4, and I know the shelf life of Heavenly sword is short but I really fancy it.

My son is getting an XBOX 360 for xmas, and I would feel bad hogging that;) Still not completely convinced and the wife has given me th okay as well

Hmm, the quality of the video does neither of them any justice. Alot of the time the graphics look pixilated.

On a side note I had heard that the 60 gig PS3 has been discontinued. I'm unsure why, I speculate that its not worthwhile to manufacture it, but does anyone know for sure why?

Probably because the 80GB one is out? If you want to be a cheapo you'd get the 40GB, if you want the best and all the features you'd get the 80GB one so 60GB became no man's land.

Been blitzing Mario & Sonic this weekend before the boxing with 3 of my mates. Lots of fun to be had!!!!

TBH Nintendo's marketing of the WII in this country has put me off wanting to buy one. I'm sure they wont go bankrupt over that decision but i just cant be bothered to buy one if they cant be bothered to get stock of them in the UK.

The stock is still coming over every week. They are just flying out of the stores. Woolies have had about 2 batches of 7k and 4k in the passed 3 weeks and they have went within the hour.

Thats just shit marketing for the consumer. Keep demand high and price high by keeping the flow of stock to the bare minimum.

At least if you wanted to buy a PS3 or 360 you could go out right now and return to your house with one. Not have to run the gauntlet of hoping to arrive in a store when their stock of 1 may or may not have been sold already.
